The 3G cell phone network is, in basic terms, the third generation of development in wireless cell phone networks, specifically mobile communications. The third generation, as its name suggests, is the latest in a series of technological improvements to the cell phone systems, those being the first generation (1G) and second generation (2G) cell phone communication technology.
The term 3g can now be easily defined as the term used to describe the latest generation of cell phone services. The new 3G services will provide tremendously advanced and high speed voice communications and data connectivity over what most of us experience with the existing 2G networks.
The huge benefits and technological advances of the 3G cell phone system can be defined as; an expanded and high speed access to the Internet (at connection speeds that are between some 3x faster than a 56K dial-up modem connection to 2.4Mbps, which is substantially similar to cable speed), greater flexibility of mobile data applications such as multimedia content, streaming music and video, video-conferencing and 3d downloadable games. The 3G network standard arose from the desire of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU). The ITU established, by collaboration with industry standards from around the world, a defined set of technical requirements and standards for the new 3G networks.
The ITU requires that the 3G cell phone networks, include in their capabilities, an improved system capacity and wider signal band efficiency over the older and slower 2G cell phone systems and that the 3G networks support rapid and comprehensive voice, video and data transmission. It’s worthy to note that a series of European and Asian cell phone service carriers have already established 3G networks. However, in the states, the 3g networks are only now being rolled out, mainly in urban areas, but some. Expect an amazing mobile cell phone interactive experience with 3G.
